Angkrish Raghuvanshi has always operated on an accelerated timeline. While most cricketers spend their early twenties navigating the transition from age-group cricket to the professional circuit, Raghuvanshi has been setting benchmarks at every turn. As a 17-year-old, he led the scoring charts at the 2022 Under-19 World Cup. By 19, he had cemented a role within the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad for IPL 2024. Now, before his 22nd birthday, he stands as the franchise’s premier Indian batter for the 2026 season.
A Franchise Bet That Paid Off
The history of KKR’s handling of young Indian talent has been a subject of much debate, with previous departures of high-profile names often dominating headlines. However, the franchise has taken a markedly different approach with Raghuvanshi. By fully backing his inclusion in the starting XI and even tasking him with wicketkeeping duties during the domestic off-season, KKR signaled their long-term commitment to his development.
Ultimately, it was his exquisite batting that justified this faith. His recent performance against the Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens was a showcase of composure and innovation, featuring his fifth half-century in just 12 innings this season.

This year, his tally of 422 runs in 12 innings places him among the most prolific non-opening batters in the tournament. Only Cooper Connolly and Heinrich Klaasen have surpassed his output in that specific role this season.

While his T20 strike rate of 136 has kept him off the immediate radar for the national side, those watching closely see echoes of Sanju Samson’s early career—a rare ability to remain unfazed against elite international bowling.
