Powell, Narine Dazzle as LAKR Thump Orcas by 81 Runs
The Los Angeles Knight Riders have secured a convincing 81-run win over the Seattle Orcas, thanks to impressive performances from Rovman Powell and Sunil Narine.
Sent in to bat, LAKR got off to a strong start with a 58-run first-wicket stand between Colin Munro and Andre Fletcher. However, they struggled to build on this foundation, losing wickets at regular intervals. Despite this, small contributions from throughout the lineup helped them reach a respectable total of 196.
Powell’s Explosive Cameo
The most impactful innings of the day came from Rovman Powell, who played a 11-ball cameo that included five sixes in a row. This explosive batting display helped LAKR finish just four short of 200, setting a challenging target for the Orcas.
Narine’s Powerplay Wickets
Sunil Narine proved to be a game-changer with the ball, dismissing Tim Seifert and Matthew Breetzke to leave SO 33 for 2 in the fifth over. This early damage proved difficult for the Orcas to recover from, and they ultimately folded for 115 with 5.3 overs still remaining.
Clinical Bowling Performance
The LAKR bowling attack was clinical in their execution, with Shadley van Schalkwyk and Andre Russell taking three wickets each to clean up the middle and lower order. Harmeet was the only SO batter to cross 20, scoring 25 off 17 balls.
This win marks the second consecutive victory for LAKR, making them the only remaining unbeaten team in MLC 2026. With performances like these, they will be a force to be reckoned with in the tournament.
